So, What's Next?

With 1.1 now out in the wild, the 4.5 year odyssey of Legend Edition's core material is complete. It's been a long road, there were alot of mistakes made, but I think I can walk away from the core material and say "My work here is done".

I will admit that there were heated discussions, overzealous communications/defenses, and demands that it be made into something that suited individual people instead of serving the initial design pillars. Bear in mind that this was the first time I've ever undergone a project of this magnitude, and there's many things I hope to take from it and learn from it for future ideas, concepts, and potential games. Ultimately, Legend Edition is another arm of a crusade I have been on for over ten years. I will also admit a certain attachment, as there's whole segments that I wrote when I was at my mental lowest in order to keep myself focused....but that is merely an explanation.

Along the way, some bridges were burnt, and I do apologize how those turned out. Some people will not find my apologies satisfactory, and instead reframe it to fit a pre-existing narrative about me, applying their grievances with my colleague onto me. I have no intention of mending any bridge with people who's mind is already made up about me, so I will simply say "may you find peace". I've discussed the community issues with a few individuals and will be doing my best to ensure similar flare-ups do not repeat.

Ultimately, Legend Edition is meant to embody the spirit of concepts like Rule Zero. That is the official stance and will not be altered, as I have no intention of adding anything to the manuscript of the corebooks for the forseeable. For some, this will not be satisfactory. To them I will simply state that homebrew is always an option that I will always encourage, but do not expect me to make said homebrew official. To wit, "I won't stop you, but I also won't help you either".

So, with that said, what's next?

Well, I will be continuing to do the Fated Continuum series of streams on a bi-weekly basis, which can be found on my youtube and twitch channels, as well as the monthly design challenges on my discord server. In addition, I hope to do cross-collabs regarding adapting Legend Edition to similar ttRPGs and vice versa.

Beyond that, I will be writing Shards and homebrews, some of which I will share here, but none will have the same editing template seen in the corebook as I will be handling that solo. For those of you who will still follow me on the journey, you have my eternal gratitude.

Stay Frosty,
-M
